The Heart Failure Society of America (HFSA) Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) 2026 will take place October 9–12, 2026, at the Phoenix Convention Center in Phoenix, Arizona. As the premier meeting dedicated exclusively to heart failure, ASM convenes a multidisciplinary community of clinicians, researchers and healthcare professionals committed to advancing care through education, collaboration and scientific exchange.
The Defining Meeting for Heart Failure Professionals
ASM is the only major scientific meeting fully devoted to heart failure. Every session is intentionally designed for this specialty – delivering practical insights, deep clinical relevance and meaningful discussion across the full spectrum of care.
Beyond the content, ASM is where the heart failure community connects. Program directors engage with peers and emerging talent, early-career professionals find mentorship and entry into the field, and seasoned clinicians exchange ideas that shape practice. The result is more than a meeting – it is the central gathering point for the field.
ASM Heads West
By bringing ASM to Phoenix, HFSA returns to the West for the first time since 2014. Phoenix is an accessible, vibrant destination with ideal weather in the month of October. Located in the heart of downtown, the Phoenix Convention Center is within walking distance of Roosevelt Row’s arts district, along with a wide range of dining and social venues.
Featured Plenary: Lady Glaucomflecken (That’s Right… I Said Glaucomflecken)
Kristin Flanary – known as Lady Glaucomflecken – will deliver the Saturday plenary session keynote. Through her storytelling and advocacy, she offers a unique perspective on the healthcare experience. Drawing from her role as a co-survivor during her husband’s cancer journey and sudden cardiac arrest, she brings a powerful lens on the patient and family experience. Her session will challenge attendees to think differently about how healthcare systems support patients and caregivers during moments of crisis.
Addressing the Complexity of Heart Failure Care
The 2026 ASM program reflects the growing complexity of heart failure management. Core topics include advanced heart failure and transplantation, cardiogenic shock, HFpEF, genetics and cardiomyopathies, cardio-oncology, and health equity. Emerging areas – such as artificial intelligence, implementation science, and preventive cardiology – underscore the rapid evolution of the field.
A range of formats – including hands-on workshops, interactive sessions, debates, and case-based discussions – ensures a dynamic and practical learning experience. Full program details are coming in June.
Abstracts and Late-Breaking Science
ASM remains a leading platform for the presentation of new science. The 2026 meeting has received a record number of abstract and case submissions, reflecting continued momentum in heart failure research. Attendees will experience this work through oral abstract sessions, ePosters and Late-Breaking Clinical Trial presentations designed to highlight timely, practice-changing findings. Submissions for Late-Breaking Clinical Trials will open on June 23.
JCF Family of Journals at ASM
The Journal of Cardiac Failure (JCF) and Journal of Cardiac Failure–Intersections (JCF-I) will feature prominently at ASM. JCF Central will serve as a hub for editorial programming, including curated sessions and expert discussions. A featured Point–Counterpoint debate—moderated by JCF Co-Editors Rob Mentz and Anu Lala – will bring leading voices together to examine critical issues in heart failure. Attendees will also have opportunities to connect directly with the editorial team at the JCF Reception on Saturday evening.
Registration Opens June 9
Registration and full program details will be available beginning June 9, 2026. Attendees are encouraged to take advantage of advanced registration rates through the end of June. Registration includes access to all live sessions, along with on-demand access via the ASM 2026 Mobile App.
HFSA’s Annual Scientific Meeting continues to serve as the cornerstone event for the heart failure community – bringing together the science, people and ideas that will define the future of heart failure care.
