About the Heart Failure Society of America

The Heart Failure Society of America, Inc. (HFSA) represents the first organized effort by heart failure experts from the Americas to provide a forum for all those interested in heart function, heart failure, and congestive heart failure (CHF) research and patient care.

In the spring of 1994, a small group of academic cardiologists gathered in New York to discuss the formation of a society that would focus on heart failure. This group had long recognized that the disease was on the rise; yet there was no venue for researchers, trainees, and clinicians to gather to discuss new treatments, research results, and the rise in health care costs associated with heart failure. A society dedicated to heart failure would bring together health care professionals, including researchers, physicians, nurses and other allied health care professionals, to learn more about the mechanisms of the disease, how best to treat patients, play a role in reducing health care costs, etc. The meeting led to the incorporation of the Heart Failure Society of America, Inc.

The Heart Failure Society of America, Inc. (HFSA) represents the first organized effort by heart failure experts from the Americas to provide a forum for all those interested in heart function, heart failure, and congestive heart failure (CHF) research and patient care.

The mission of HFSA is to promote research related to all aspects of heart failure and to provide a forum for presentation of basic, clinical, and population-based research. Educate health care professionals through programs, publications, and other media in the areas of basic science, clinical medicine, patient management, and social, ethical and economic issues to enable them to diagnose and treat heart failure and concomitant medical conditions more effectively. We hope to encourage primary and secondary preventive measures to reduce the incidence of heart failure; to serve as a resource for government, private industry, and health care providers to facilitate the establishment of programs and policies that will better serve the patient. As well as enhance quality and duration of life in those with heart failure. And finally, promote and facilitate the formal training of physicians, scientists, and allied health care providers in the field of heart failure.

HFSA Corporate Membership:

The Heart Failure Society of America is planning many new projects as well as strengthening existing ones for the upcoming year. In addition to our 2017 Annual Meeting at the Gaylord Texan in Dallas, TX in September and the Advanced Heart Failure Review course that will be held in the fall, we anticipate vigorous participation in advocacy and educational activities over the year. We funded in 2016 a large number of research and travel grants to help jumpstart the careers of our early career members and our Early Career Committee has been embraced with enthusiasm by the next generation of leaders in the heart failure world developing Hands-on Workshops, Mentoring Programs and a number of new initiatives for 2017 and beyond. Including a reboot of the Turnberry Fellows Program relaunched as a multidisciplinary program titled Future Leaders in Heart Failure.

An important initiative for the HFSA has been to increase meaningful relations with corporate partners and, to this end, we invite you to formalize your relationship with the HFSA by becoming a corporate sponsor.

Corporate Member Benefits:

Two face to face (F2F) meetings to review with HFSA leadership the agenda for the Society and opportunities for your company to partner with us in some of our initiatives and for HFSA leaders to learn about your plans, what you have in the pipeline and potential ways in which to collaborate on your programs.

In addition to F2F meetings at the HFSA annual meeting, leaders of HFSA will meet with industry partners at the annual meetings of ACC and AHA providing a number of opportunities throughout the year to discuss partnership initiatives.

Industry Supported Satellite Programs

The HFSA provides opportunities for industry supported CME-accredited symposia to be held at the HFSA Annual Meetings. There is no fee to attend these programs, however, attendees must be registered for the HFSA Annual Scientific Meeting.

The HFSA is approved by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) as an accredited provider of continuing medical education.
