Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Self-Evaluation Module in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology
Physicians who are board-certified in a medical specialty are required by MOC to earn 100 self-evaluation points during the 10 years between certification and recertification or between each recertification. For more information on MOC requirements, go to ABIM's website on MOC.
HFSA has developed an ABIM-approved self-evaluation module in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology. It can be used to satisfy MOC requirements in all ABIM specialty certifications, including:
- Internal Medicine
- Cardiovascular Disease
- Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology
- Interventional Cardiology
- Advanced Heart Failure/Transplant Cardiology.
Taking the Self-Evaluation On-Line
The web site to take the self-evaluation module in advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology is available at:
moc.hfsa.org.
Credit
MOC and CME credit: 10 Category 1 AMA PRA creditsTM and 10 MOC points once the module is successfully completed.
Overall Goal
The overall goal of this online activity is to enhance knowledge and increase competency in the treatment of advanced heart failure through careful consideration of heart failure cases and questions.
Learner Objectives
Upon completion of this program, attendees should be better able to:
- Describe the pathophysiology of heart failure, including normal physiology and compensatory and maladaptive mechanisms
- Assess and follow the patient with advanced heart failure, using non-invasive and invasive tests and biomarkers.
- Implement guideline-based therapy for patients with advanced heart failure, including pharmacologic agents; non-pharmacologic options, such as diet and exercise; and devices
- Provide peri-operative management of heart failure patients undergoing non-cardiac surgery, cardiac transplantation, or implantation of a mechanical circulatory device
